Question

Today at the graduate school, we had a visiting professor named Michael Landon. I thought this was hilarious. When I told Jesse, she didn't think it was funny because she didn't know who Michael Landon was - and I'm not talking about the visiting professor. She thinks it is ridiculous that I know who Michael Landon is. So, am I ridiculous or do you know who Michael Landon is?

I know who Michael Landon is. Or was, more correctly.

I wasn't a fan, but Little Joe Cartwright on Bonanza and his appearance on Johnny Carson near the end of his life are the memories of him that most easily spring to mind.

He left the planet in 1991, according to the good folks at Wikipedia. So I'm certainly old enough to have conscious memory of him. You and Jesse...not so much.

But I don't think it's ridiculous that you know who Michael Landon is. It's reasonable to think that you might also know who Lucille Ball and Jackie Gleason and Charlie Chaplin are for the same reasons you know who Michael Landon is.

What I *do* think is ridiculous is that you call yourself a Red Sox fan. If you live outside of the New England area and you're under 50 years old, you don't count.

No possible recollection of The Big Red Machine or Bucky Dent. And you sure couldn't have known what was going on in 1986, either.

I'm sure you justify it somehow, though. Maybe there's a verse in the Bible about it?

I know who he is. But unfortunatly for you, you don't know who I am.

You don't know who I am, but the above was probably Craig Hodge.
